Work to start on 700 home site this year

Work on 700 homes planned for London Road could start as soon as August this year it has been announced this week.

The 72.6 acre site has been purchased by a partnership between local housing developers Barratt Northampton, David Wilson South Midlands and Bovis Homes Central Region.

The £173 million scheme includes 700 new homes as well as a new primary school, public open spaces, play areas, two football pitches, sports pavilion and significant local highway improvements.

A detailed application will be submitted in early June with plans to start work in August 2011. The first residents could move into the new homes in early 2012.
