ROYAL British Legion branches in Towcester, Silverstone and Greens Norton came together for the launch of the 2011 Poppy Appeal on Friday.
Those present included Lt Col Mike Caseman-Jones, chairman of the new Towcester branch of the Royal British Legion, and Sally Townsend, chairman of South Northants Council.
David Reed, secretary of Towcester RBL, said: “We’re hoping people will be as generous as in previous years. We realise it’s a difficult time with the economy, but so far people have been just as supportive.”
Collections will be held at Towcester’s Tesco and Waitrose this weekend, and at Waitrose next weekend. A collection will also be held in the town centre this weekend.
