FRESH START: South Northants residents are being urge to recycle anything with a plug or batteries to cut back on the 43 tonnes of electronic waste they sent to landfill this year.

This month South Northants Council launched a campaign in conjunction with Weee Connect and the European Recycling Platform to raise awareness of the need to recycle washing machines, televisions, fridges and electrical gadgets.

Dermot Banbridge, SNC’s cabinet member for the environment urged people to make a New Year’s resolution to clear out broken electricals and added: “Why not have a good clear-out this month and take all the broken and unwanted battery powered items or products with a plug to a recycling centre?”
