Calls for chicken factory smells to be reported
BRACKLEY Town Council has repeated calls for people to report bad smells to the Faccenda chicken processing plant.
For several years people living near the plant on the Buckingham Road
Industrial Estate have complained about putrid smells blighting their
lives.
Last year they formed an action group along with the town council which has arranged regular meetings with representatives from Faccenda and the Environment Agency.
It had been hoped that the escape of smells had been limited but at the
end of last month the council received a number of calls and asked for an emergency meeting to be held.
During a public session at the start of last Monday night's council meeting Cyril Finlayson of St Anne's Close said the smells along the bypass around June 25 had been horrendous but he had not reported them.
Councillors urged people to report smells so they can be logged as proof
of the problem.
Councillor Caryl Billingham said part of the problem was that smells could be intermittent and localised, increasing the need for them to be reported.
Smells should be logged via the odour control hotline on 01280 707713.
