Silverstone Riding for the Disabled group (RDA) needs more volunteer helpers.

The group offers riding at Blackmires Farm on Monday evenings to seven disabled children and adults.

Syresham resident Bruce Smith, who helps run the group, said: “The group is such a happy one that we have almost become a family, and the clients love it.

“Unfortunately, due to people moving away, we are short of volunteers.

“Some riders need three – one to lead and one either side of the horse, as obviously we have to be completely safe.

“We rely a lot on Duke of Edinburgh Award students who come to us for their ‘Service’ section, but also on parents, horse lovers and people with no riding experience at all, like myself.

“If anyone is interested in helping, please give it a try. I promise you’ll be hooked when you see the delight on those riders’ faces, and you’ll want to come back.

“Our helpers have been as young as 13 and as old as, well, the hills, shall we say?”
