There’s a first chance to see Canadian singer songwriter Christina Martin when she plays The Stables, at Wavendon, on Friday, February 7,as part of her debut UK tour.
Christina is a multi award-winner whose style has been described as an effortless union between alt-country and rock with pop sensibility.
One reviewer wrote:“With her sexy girl-next-door beauty, vivacious personality, brightly sparkling voice and unerring love of hooky choruses and peppy rhythms, Christina Martin should’ve easily slid into the cool waters of modern pop—if only pop hadn’t become a pimp for our shallowest tastes and sentiments.”
Over the past seven years, Christina has been developing her reputation for strong song writing and timeless storytelling in her home country via her melodic Americana/country-pop songs.
Winner of the 2012 Female Recording of the Year at the Nova Scotia Music Awards for her latest album Sleeping With A Stranger and an East Coast Music Award, Christina’s romantic and wistful vocal style is reminiscent of the music she grew up with, including Lucinda Williams, The Jayhawks and Wilco.
Travelling with her on her UK tour is respected guitar and lap/pedal steel player Dale Murray (The Guthries, Cuff The Duke), whose playing can be heard throughout Christina’s recordings.
Christina will return to the UK in the summer for festival touring with her full band. See www.christinamartin.net
