THE Brand Buckingham campaign had its official launch last Saturday at the town’s Civic Day celebrations, with the unveiling of a new logo designed to promote the town.
The branding scheme has been funded by Aylesbury Vale District Council and is being run by Buckingham Traders’ Association, Buckingham Town Council, Buckingham Business Club, the University of Buckingham and the Buckingham Society.
There are plans to produce car stickers and create a Facebook page.
A competition was launched on the day to design a new Buckingham postcard. Entry forms are available at our Well Street offices and at Mooch, in West Street.
The competition closes at the end of July and the winner will be announced in the Advertiser. The winning postcard will be printed and sold in the Old Gaol shop.
AVDC director Tracey Aldworth said: “Over the past few months, AVDC has been working hard with the Buckingham Traders’ Association and other stakeholders such as the town council to develop a brand and marketing plan for this lovely market town which is keen to attract more shoppers and visitors.
“For this coming year, we have provided marketing support as part of our commitment to this project. A member of staff is now working one day a week for Buckingham, helping to promote the town and support the programme that the traders are leading.
“We helped organise the launch of the marketing brand and the promotional material for residents and businesses to use to promote their local town. The council welcomes this opportunity to support Buckingham in its efforts to increase the prosperity of the town.”
