It is all change at Cherwell District Council with the passing over of the chairman’s chains to a new councillor.

On May 15, Lawrie Stratford, Conservative member for Bicester East, was elected as the new chairman for the 2013/ 2014 municipal year.

Cllr Stratford had
previously held the role of vice-chairman before
taking up his new position from Banbury’s councillor Colin Clarke.

Cllr Stratford moved to Bicester in 1992 and was first elected onto CDC in May 1999.

He has also served on Oxfordshire County Council and Bicester Town Council, serving as the town’s mayor in 2001/ 2002.

Cllr Kieron Mallon was also elected as this year’s vice-chairman.
