A new charity shop will help raise money for rescued pets in the area.

The shop, run by the RSPCA Chiltern branch, opened in the former Canvas store on Buckingham’s Market Hill on Saturday.

RSPCA chief inspector Rob Hartley, who lives in Buckingham, opened the shop, together with store manager Yasmin Earney, Chiltern branch manager Lois James-Hart and her schnauzer/Jack Russell cross rescue dog Bertie.

Lois said: “It was absolutely brilliant. We’ve had a lot of interest. Lots of people have been looking in the window for weeks beforehand.

“All the money raised goes towards people’s vet bills and welfare within the area.”

The RSPCA Chiltern branch, which has a cattery in Finmere, is desperate for homes for rescued cats and kittens, and pictures of animals needing rehoming are on display in the shop.

Lois said: “We can’t take any more animals in at the moment.”
