JUST before Christmas children in Greens Norton presented an 93-year-old lady with a quilted blanket.

The presentation to Marion Hope at Greens Nortoon Primary had extra meaning as it took place on the anniversary of her husband’s death.

Mrs Hope, a resident of the nearby Norton Court retirement scheme, said: “He’s not here to give me a hug so he sent blanket instead.”

Ann Muxlow, South Northants Homes’ manager at Norton Court, said: “This is a really sweet story and it’s great to see the children’s hard work going to someone who is so deserving of it.”

The quilt was knitted during the school’s Thursday Craft Club which sees up to seven volunteers from the WI and Fifty Plus club teach up to 14 children to knit.
