Police cadets have done their bit to make sure families have food on the table this Christmas.

Donations to Towcester Foodbank swelled with the help of South Northants police cadets who gathered more than 140 items including mince pies and soups.

Emergency hampers will now be prepared which families can get hold of in return for vouchers issued by the agencies working with the Trussell Trust network.

Sergeant Lorna Clarke, from Towcester police station, said: “It’s heart-warming to see how enthusiastic the team were in spreading a little festive spirit in the community.

“Many people will benefit from the contributions and I would like to thank everyone who assisted the cadets in helping to collect items for the hampers.

“The cadets have really enjoyed supporting this worthy charity by collecting various food items, festive treats and snacks ready for distribution to families who really need help over Christmas.”

Northants Police were presented with a certificate of thanks from the foodbank to say thanks for the donations.
