SKILLS: A dying art will be kept alive when upholstery classes start at Abthorpe Village Hall next month.

High class upholsterer Damian York said: “Most modern upholstery is mass produced, where as I learned through a seven year apprenticeship and learned all the traditional techniques, which date back hundreds of years, horse hair stuffing, and traditional stitching with a variety of curved and straight needles.”

Classes start Monday, September 3, call 07979 200185.
