A COUPLE who met at a karate club in Towcester were surprised by a tunnel of belts as they walked down the isle last month.

On Saturday, June 30, Darren Marsh, 47, married Clare Brentnall, 38 at St Lawrence Church. They met while attending the Central England Shotokan Karate Association club at the Towcester Centre for Leisure run by Peter Calver. He secretly organised 11 pupils to be ready for when the couple left the church.

Mrs Marsh said: “I thought it was wonderful, a really nice surprise.

“Although the day was grey it really did bring a lot of colour to it.”

Mr Marsh said: “It was a lovely surprise, especially since they got so wet in the rain.”

Mr Calver described them as a wonderful couple and added: “They’ve been with us a long time and help out with lessons, they are a real asset to the club and the association and a pleasure to teach.”
