THERE was a glimmer of hope for a Towcester youth service this weekend as hundreds of people showed their support during a fund raising fete.
Lisa Bolton, marketing director for the Vision Youth Cafe said the 7am car boot was an unusual sight in the centre of Towcester and that a between six a seven hundred people visited during the day.
The cafe was hit with a funding crisis last month when Northants County Council ceased its support. The cafe provides young people with a place to meet and aims to reduce anti-social behaviour. Ms Bolton said they were making some progress towards finding the money needed to keep the cafe open and that they now had enough to stay open up to July. She added: “Overall it has been great, there was a lot of community support. The mayor Jacqueline Hart opened the fete and there were a number of town councillors. And big thanks to local businesses for their donations. The weather was brilliant, all in all we couldn’t have asked for more.”
