Staff at Specsavers Opticians dressed as spiders, witches and Batman villain The Joker as they hosted a Hallowe’en collection for Bicester Food Bank last week.
The team at Specsavers in Crown Walk acted as a collection point for non-perishable healthy food.
Speaking ahead of the collection last week, store director Sarah Marshall said: “We wanted to help out the local food bank and thought this week would make the perfect opportunity.
“Most people have the odd tin of soup or beans that they could give so we hope that we receive plenty of donations.”
Bicester Food Bank meets at Bicester Methodist Church Hall every Tuesday and Friday from noon to 2pm.
Project founder and manager Janet Ray was inspired to set up the food bank in 2006 after seeing the success of a similiar scheme in New Zealand.
The emergency resource for people in the Bicester area has seen an increasing number of visitors over the last year following benefits cuts and tough economic times.
Volunteers at Bicester Food Bank are set to host their first Christmas lunch this year.
