YOUNG artists from Bicester and Launton have won prizes after their pictures of birds were given the thumbs up by visitors to Bicester Avenue Garden Centre.

The garden centre invited young people to send in drawings and paintings as part of its Wild Bird Care Fortnight this month.

Alice Cullimore, seven, from Launton, scooped top prize in the junior category, and Sarah Cousins, 14, from Bicester, won the older children’s category.

Alice and Sarah both got a certificate, a big box of seed mix and two bird feeders. Catherine Cousins, seven, and Eden Shields, 10, from Bicester, were runners-up.
