A 22-YEAR-OLD man from Buckingham will appear in court later this month charged with the attempted robbery of a student in Buckingham last month.

James O’Toole, 22, of Lenborough Road, who is also charged with possession of an offensive weapon, is accused of trying to carry out a robbery on a 19-year-old student at the University of Buckingham in the early hours of Sunday, August 28.

Investigating officer PC Vince Higgins said: “I am satisfied the motive behind this attack was money and nothing else and the charges reflect this. I would like to thank the University of Buckingham and the public for their help so far and hope these charges will help reassure students that Buckingham is a safe place to study.”

Mr O’Toole is due to appear at Aylesbury Magistrates’ Court on Monday, September 26.

Anyone with information about this attack should call police on 08458 505505 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
