Police are appealing for information after an elderly woman was the victim of a distraction burglary in Buckingham.
Between around 4pm and 4.45pm on Monday 20 March, the victim was at her home in Gorrell Close when two men knocked on her front door, police said today (Monday).
They said there was flooding up the road and they needed to come in to the house.
Once inside, they conducted a search of the upstairs and removed a quantity of cash.
Both offenders are white, in their mid-twenties and were wearing light coloured clothing.
Investigating officer DC Gemma Robinson said: “These men have targeted a vulnerable member of the community and we are appealing for anyone with information that could help our investigation to come forward.
“Distraction burglaries are thankfully rare in our area, and residents can take simple steps to ensure they don’t become a victim.
“These might include having a viewing eyelet or fixing a door chain to your door.
“You should also always check the ID of any corporate visitor; all companies will accept a call to their offices to confirm their employee is scheduled to visit you.
“If you ever have any concerns, you are under no obligation to open your door.”
