Police are searching for two thieves who slit open a woman’s handbag and stole her purse in Bicester on Friday.

At 10.20am, a 63-year-old woman was walking along Piggy Lane, between the entrance to the cemetery and Montgomery House.

Two men were walking towards her and moved aside to let her pass between them.

One brushed her shoulder, causing her to turn. The victim then felt a tugging on her handbag.

She was turned back around by the other man, who apologised for his friend. The men then walked off towards the cemetery.

Around ten minutes later the victim noticed a slit in her handbag and saw her purse containing a large amount of cash had been stolen.

The thieves were white men in their early twenties and around 5ft 7ins tall. One was wearing a blue hooded top and jeans.
