A GROUP of men posing as police officers abducted a woman in Ambrosden as part of a burglary plot this morning.
The 30-year-old woman was at the Spar shop in Ploughley Road some time before 10.20am.
As she was leaving the shop and was about to get into her car — a black Range Rover — she was approached by three men who bundled her into her car.
The men told the woman they were police officers before assaulting her and driving her back to her home address in East Hawthorn Road.
Once there, they went inside the home with her, where her 30-year-old boyfriend was, assaulted him and stole a large quantity of money.
The men stole the woman’s car and drove back to the Spar shop in Ploughley Road, where they abandoned it and left the scene in an unknown vehicle.
The men were all white and aged in their thirties. One of them was wearing a balaclava and the other two had scarves covering their faces.
The woman was taken to the John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for treatment.
Det Sgt Howard Berry, of Thames Valley Police, said: “This is a very serious incident and we are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen these men in the area prior to this incident.
“The men have returned to the shop, so we want to hear from anyone who saw them leaving the Range Rover and getting into another vehicle. We want to know what type of vehicle this was and which direction it travelled in when it left the scene.
“Our investigation is on-going at this time and we have a team of officers working in the local area, speaking with local residents and doing door-to-door enquiries.
“It’s important to stress that incidents of this nature are highly unusual and that if any of the local residents have any concerns they should contact their local policing team via the 08458 505505 number.”
Anyone with information about this incident should contact Det Sgt Berry via the 24-hour Thames Valley Police enquiry line on 08458 505505, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
