A MAN who stabbed his sister’s partner to death just days after Christmas last year has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
Bernardo Durantes, 35, was found guilty at the Old Bailey of murdering former Steeple Claydon man Jaime Ball, 29, at the Globe Inn in Hartwell Road, Hanslope, on December 28 last year.
The judge recommended he serve at least 14 years when passing sentence on Friday last week.
Det Ch Insp Phil Murphy, who led the investigation, said: “This has been a very difficult time for the families involved as the offender and victim knew each other.
“We are satisfied with today’s result and hope that the other people directly affected by these events can now start to move on with their lives.”
Durantes was living with Mr Ball and his sister Emma, who was Mr Ball’s partner, at the time of the murder. The couple had been running the pub for just over a year after moving to Hanslope from Buckingham.
Mr Ball was fatally stabbed after an argument broke out shortly before the pub was due to open.
