POLICE reported a significant uniformed presence in Brackley on Monday evening during the search for a missing man.

Brackley residents contacted the Advertiser on Tuesday morning after hearing the unusual presence of a police helicopter the night before. A spokesman for Northants Police said they were called at around 8.15pm and added: “The situation is resolved, but we had a vulnerable, elderly missing person in Brackley yesterday. There was a 95-year-old man who left his family home and obviously because of his age, and the fact he had mild dementia, there was concern for his welfare.”

Local officers were assisted by a specialist team from Northampton and the Thames Valley Police Support Helicopter. The spokesman added: “Fortunately after a four hour search the man was found near the Washington House Surgery in Manor Road. The search involved significant uniformed resources, specialist search officers together with the Thames Valley air support. Once he was found he was checked over by paramedics and returned to his family.”
