AN MP is calling for a change in the law following the death of a teenage girl in Buckingham four years ago.

Rhiannon Bennett, aged 17, died from head injuries after being hit by a bicycle in Verney Close in April 2007.

Her parents, Michael and Diana, who now live in Greatworth, were outraged that the cyclist, Jason Howard, was only charged with dangerous cycling, receiving a fine of £2,200.

Now their MP, Andrea Leadsom, has tabled a 10-minute rule bill in the House of Commons on Tuesday in a bid to ensure greater protection for pedestrians from cyclists in future.
