A police station based inside the Wootton Hall headquarters site in Northampton is to move into vacant space in a nearby fire station, it has been revealed.

Northamptonshire Police and Crime Commissioner Adam Simmonds said the South-West Sector team, which is based in a mobile building in Wootton Hall, is to move into the Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service building in Mereway.

Mr Simmonds said: “It will provide the police officers with better accommodation.”

The future of the entire Wootton Hall site, which is the preferred site for a new school set to open in September 2016, is currently under review.

Mr Simmonds said an announcement on the future of the Wootton Hall site was due to be made in the next few months.
