POLICE in Buckingham are offering motorists the chance to have anti-theft number plate screws fitted to their cars on Friday free of charge.

Following the success of similar events in Aylesbury, where Thames Valley Police fitted more than 700 cars with tamper-proof number plate screws, officers have agreed to run a similar event in Buckingham, in conjunction with GM Tyres and Green Light Autos who have offered their expertise in helping to fit the anti-theft screws.

The event is taking place at Tesco on London Road from 10am to 2pm.

Thames Valley Police aims to crack down on the number of number plate thefts that occur each year.
