POLICE have clamped down on speeding motorists in roadworks on the A41 near Bicester after two serious incidents.
One man was paralysed and others suffered serious injuries after a car hit a partially-built roundabout at the end of May, and another man was thrown from his car in a similar incident two weeks ago.
PC Mark Pilling, of Thames Valley Police, said: “There have been two serious injury collisions in recent weeks, one of which resulted in the people involved sustaining life-changing injuries.
“Speed was a major factor in both of these incidents. The speed limit along the A41 is 40mph and the results from our speed checks revealed that people are exceeding this limit considerably.”
Officers caught 30 drivers breaking the 40mph limit in two hours on Monday last week, and caught 45 last Friday lunchtime. The fastest recorded speed was 84mph.
Further checks are set to be held.
