A 29-year-old man who damaged two resturant signs and the the self-service touch screen at McDonald’s in Northampton has been ordered to pay £300 in compensation.

Mark Smith, of Bestow Road, Towcester, appeared at Northampton Magistrates’ Court after admitting a number of criminal damage charges and one count of being drunk and disorderly in a public place.

The court heard that on May 13 Smith caused £190 worth of damage to a freestanding sign belonging to College Street Fish and Chip Shop and £240 worth of damage to an A-frame sign belonging to Jennys Restaurant in Gold Street.

On April 2, Smith damaged a self service touch screen to the value of £750 belonging to McDonalds in the Drapery.

Smith was given a 12-month community order and must pay a victim surcharge.
