Dadford woman’s MBE for services to the community
Ivy Cakebread from Dadford at Windsor Castle to receive her MBE
Ivy Cakebread, from Dadford, went to Windsor Castle last month to receive her MBE.
Mrs Cakebread was named in the Queen’s 2012 Birthday Honours list in June, for services to the community of Stowe and Dadford.
She was nominated for the honour by the National Trust at Stowe, where she is a volunteer.
She is also president of Dadford Women’s Institute, chairman of Stowe Parish Council and a volunteer for the talking newspaper.
On October 12, Mrs Cakebread joined other recipients at Windsor Castle, to be awarded her honour by His Royal Highness the Prince of Wales.
Mrs Cakebread told the Advertiser: “It was lovely. It was a day you’ll never forget, everyone in our best clothes. Mary Berry was there.”
After the event, Mrs Cakebread posed with a guard for this picture, taken by her daughter, Julie.
