The south Northants dance school, Step by Step, has teamed up with sport stars and Sky TV presenters for a fund raising competition at the home of British motor racing.

Last week dance school founder Andrezj Mialkowski put news readers Kay Burley through her paces at his studio in Northampton ahead of the Dancing with Sky’s Stars evening at the Silverstone Wing later this month.

Step by Step has been behind Strictly style competitions featuring local celebrities and student dancers across the region including in Brackley, Towcester, Bicester, and Astwell, and has raised more than £100,000 for a wide range of local causes.

The partnership arose through sports presenter Mike Webberburn who is a personal friend of Mr Mialkowski and compared several of the previous events.

Ms Burley said despite presenting to millions the competition was a daunting prospect and added: “On the night it will be absolutely terrifying to dance in front of 1,000 people.”

Dancing With Sky’s Stars, which will be held at The Wing at Silverstone Motor Racing Circuit on March 22 and 23, will also feature presenters; Natalie Sawyer, Vicky Gomersall, Julian Warren, Charlotte Hawkins, and Mr Webberburn. Other contestants include Olympic bronze medallist Kelly Sotherton and cruiserweight world boxing champion Johnny Nelson, and the judges lineup includes former England Cricketer Mark Ramprakash.

Money raised from the event will be donated to Cure For Dylan and Caring Matters Now. Tickets cost between £25 and £60 from www.silverstone.co.uk/events/dancing-with-skys-stars.
