MORE details of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations to be held in and around Bicester’s Garth Park on June 2 have been revealed this week.
Bicester Tennis Club will host Try Tennis sessions and a barbecue from 1pm, and children’s competitions will also be held.
Bicester Local History Society chairman Bob Hessian will follow a time-honoured tradition when he fires an anvil in front of Garth House at 5pm. A small charge of gunpowder will be detonated using a sledgehammer in a ceremony performed for Queen Victoria’s diamond jubilee in 1897.
Bicester Round Table’s beer festival will start at the same time, and will include a programme of local entertainers.
