A 75-year-old woman suffered serious injuries during rush hour accident on the A43 near Towcester yesterday, Thursday, September 19.
At 5.17pm the Warks and Northants Air Ambulance (WNAA) were called to the A43 between the turn for Tiffield and the Towcester area.
A spokesman for the WNAA said: “It was a serious road traffic collision, there was one car separated from its engine by the impact.
“On our arrival the patient had stopped breathing. So they were removed from the vehicle by the fire and rescue service.”
He added after receiving treatment at the scene the woman was taken to the trauma centre in Coventry.
The A43 was closed in both directions for nearly two hours with traffic being diverted through Towcester and along the A5 and was fully reopened by around 10.30pm.
Sergeant Micki Kennett from Brackley police station said via twitter: “Tolerate RTC road closures. A minor detour in your life may allow Police to explain to a family what happened to their loved one.”
