BUCKINGHAM Primary School has been honoured with an award from the British Council for its work to bring the world into the classroom.

The International School Award is given to schools for outstanding work in international education, such as links with schools in other countries.

Each of Buckingham Primary’s year groups examined a different area of the world at an International Day on October 19, exploring its language and culture.

Assistant headteacher Sarah Baxter said the school was delighted with its award, adding: “It celebrates the wide range of enjoyable international activities that our children participate in.

“These are extremely valuable as they help the children to develop a greater understanding of other countries and cultures around the world.”

The school’s work includes sponsoring a child and working with schools in Uganda.
