BICESTER: Bright sparks at Bure Park School used pedal power to spin a record player on Tuesday as they geared up for a huge Olympic celebration this summer.
Members of the Electric Pedals company worked with Year 4 and Year 6 children in the run-up to the Tree of Light celebration, which will involve 1,200 people at the end of July.
A giant tree sculpture will be set up in Stonor Park in Henley, lit by LED lights and powered by cyclists and rowers on adapted machines. It will be the centrepiece of a 60-minute performance including music and dance.
Children learned about electricity and energy, and discovered for themselves how difficult it is to generate electricity from human activity. The event is funded by Legacy Trust UK.
