THE Buckingham School has been commended for achieving some of the fastest improving GCSE results in the country and has received national recognition.

The school is one of 494 schools and academies commended by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust (SSAT). An annual event held on March 23 celebrated the specialist schools and academies that met its criteria in 2010 GCSE or equivalent examinations. The Buckingham School met the most improved category.

Headteacher Angela Wells said: “We are delighted to be recognised by the SSAT as one of the most improved schools and this commendation is a result of the hard work of our students and teachers. The school’s journey is moving at a fast pace.”
