A SCHOOL can win £50 in gardening vouchers in a spud-growing competition organised by Buckingham Garden Centre.

Primary and secondary schools within a 25-mile radius of Buckingham Garden Centre are invited to take part in the competition to produce the heaviest result from seed potatoes grown in bags.

Equipment packs are available from the garden centre in Tingewick Road. Three kinds of seed potato will be given out, and schools are encouraged to let children taste the end product and compare the different varieties. The runner-up will get £25 in garden vouchers.

Past winners have included Grenville Combined School, Padbury C of E School and Great Horwood C of E School.

The garden centre will compare results near the end of term and notify the winner.
