Despite having one of the lowest unemployment rates in Great Britain, South Northants Council has vowed to continue its fight for those desperate for work.

The latest unemployment figures show the district has the third lowest rate of unemployment by Local Authority (out of 408) in GB.

Councillor Rupert Fordham, SNC’s member for economic development said: “Yes we have one of the lowest rates of unemployment in the country and that is really good news for our local economy, but whatever the statistics may say, for those out of work unemployment remains a big issue.”

Along with the Jobs Match service, since being launched by south Northants MP Andrea Leadsom, then taken over by SNC, the Brackley and Towcester Job Clubs have found work for nearly 150 people.

Job Clubs alternate between Brackley Town Hall and Towcester Town Hall every Tuesday. The next sessions will be December 18, in Brackley and then January 8, in Towcester.
