Enjoy music from the movies and the stage at a free concert organised by the University of Buckingham.

Stowe Windband has been invited to perform a selection of music from film and theatre at the Radcliffe Centre, in Buckingham, on Tuesday, February 24.

Entitled From Baroque to the Beatles, the programme will include the theme from Jurassic Park and songs from West Side Story by Bernstein.

The windband is made up of students from the Lower School at Stowe with section leaders from the Upper School, who rehearse in the new Chung Music School.

They are a dedicated group of musicians whose repertoire extends from the new pieces they are presenting at the Radcliffe Centre through to classics such as the theme from Dambusters.

The Windband will be joined by Stowe’s accomplished String Orchestra, playing pieces to include Bach’s Brandenberg Concerto No 5, featuring flute and violin solos, as well as Mozart’s Eine Kleine Nacht Musik.

Adding a contemporary twist, the orchestra will also perform an arrangement of Yesterday by the Beatles.

The concert, at 7.30pm, is part of the University of Buckingham’s Concert and Lecture Series.

Entry is free but donations received at public lectures and concerts will be given to UBSOS (University of Buckingham Supporting Overseas Schooling), which raises money to help educate children in deprived countries.
