Flood alerts were issued for Buckingham, Brackley, Towcester and Bicester this morning following a night of heavy rain.
The Environment Agency said river levels in the Upper Ouse through Brackley and Buckingham, and the River Tove through Towcester, are rising following the overnight rain yesterday into today, Thursday.
More rainfall is forecast today, which should see river levels continue to rise.
In the Bicester area, the Langford and Wendlebury Brooks and their tributaries from Stratton Audley down to the M40 near Merton are on flood alert this morning.
The Environment Agency said it is possible both brooks will spill out into the floodplain later today following more rain.
And the River Cherwell and its tributaries from Lower Heyford down to Oxford were rising in many places after last night’s downpour.
More heavy rain is expected throughout the weekend.
