A NEWSLETTER for people wanting to find out more about reducing their food waste has been created by a national campaign.

Love Food, Hate Waste aims to reduce the amount of food going to landfill by providing tips and information on what to do with excess food.

Composters have been receiving a regular newsletter from the campaign, but it has now been expanded to include actions on how to make the most of food we buy.

It is estimated that in the UK we throw away more than 8million tonnes of food and drink a year from our homes.

Tips in the current edition include planning meals in advance, using up food with the nearest date first and when shopping to check if foods can be frozen, finding recipes which use up leftovers and storing your food properly.
