SIR Edmund and Lady Verney have handed over a cheque for £1,100 to the Royal British Legion, Bucks branch.

The money was raised at the Claydon Estate’s Dahlia and Squash Festival in September. Entrance to the event was free, but the estate asked for donations to help support the Royal British Legion (RBL), which this year celebrated its 90th anniversary.

The Verneys said they chose to support the RBL “because it does such a lot of good work, both locally and nationally, to support those who have suffered so much for others and in these difficult times need all our help”.

They are pictured, far left and far right, handing the cheque to RBL county president Kenneth Ross and fundraiser Laura Laffan.
