A NEW Buckingham business selling hand-made soaps, bath products and pampering essentials could one day compete with the likes of Lush and The Body Shop.
The new Tubsuds shop next to Buckingham Post Office has been open for around a fortnight.
Owner Dawn Tarr, who whips up amazingly edible-looking products in her home workshop in Buckingham, has opened her first shop after a successful foray into online business.
Mrs Tarr, a former business systems analyst and mum-of-two, has had some very positive feedback from customers after launching her creative new career.
Mrs Tarr, from Osprey Walk, said it started as a hobby making products for family and friends.
She said: “I was a business systems analyst for 14 years, but I was bored stiff.
“It was not creative and not a path I wanted to carry on with.
“It started off as a bit of fun and I got some really good feedback.
“Everybody has been saying how lovely it is to have the shop in Buckingham. But it’s new to me so I don’t quite know what to expect.”
Mrs Tarr said she had already turned down expressions of interest from large companies.
“I’ve had a lot of interest from the big boys, but I wanted to see where my brand’s going.
“I don’t want to become slave labour for someone else.”
She describes her lines of products, which include hampers, bath truffles and bombs, massage therapy items, and soaps, as ‘affordable luxuries.’
All products contain 100 per cent natural ingredients.
Soaps contain 21 per cent shea butter, and other products use cocoa butter and premium essential oils.
No artificial additives are used, and Tubsuds recently introduced an eco-friendly range of soy candles.
Mrs Tarr said customers’ responses have been very enthusiastic.
“People have already come back to tell me how much they’ve liked things, which has been great for me. I couldn’t have wished for more.”
Tubsuds is open from 9.30am to 5.30pm, Monday to Saturday. Visit www.tubsuds.com or contact the shop on 01280 812331.
