Famous names in the line-up for university honours

Sir Roger Bannister and Sir Magdi Yacoub are being made Honorary Graduands at the University of Buckingham Medical School Honorary Award ceremony.

And local pop legend Bernie Marsden is being made an Honorary Graduand at Graduation next weekend.

The first person to run the four-minute mile, Sir Roger Bannister, and Egyption heart surgeon Sir Magdi Yacoub are receiving the awards at St Peter and St Paul’s Church on Thursday, March 19.

Tingewick resident and former Whitesnake guitarist Bernie Marsden will receive his award at the parish church on Saturday, March 21.

At the university’s annual graduation ceremonies on Friday and Saturday, March 20 and 21, Sir Oliver Popplewell, Prof Barbara Cannon and Prof Daniel T. Jones will also be made Honorary Graduands.
