Winslow’s former Cane and Able Club had its last meeting on Saturday, with a Christmas lunch at the Bell Hotel.

Club president John Bercow MP praised the club chairman Brian Spatcher and his wife Sheila for their dedication in running the club for over 30 years.

The over-60s club began life as the North Bucks Disabled Association in the 1960s, with a membership of 80 to 100 people, which then gained new members when Winslow’s Not So Young Club folded.

But in recent times, membership had dwindled to just six.
