WINSLOW was packed with people and Christmas spirit at the town’s Christmas Fayre and lights switch-on last Thursday evening.
The great range of stalls and the local shops and cafes, which stayed open for the event, did a roaring trade at the hugely successful event.
Children queued to visit Santa, in his tent, loaned by World Tents, of Redfield.
And, as in previous years, the live reindeer were a great hit with young and old alike.
Mayor of Winslow Llew Monger switched on the town’s Christmas lights.
He presented the award for the best shop window display to newcomer Rhubarb & Roses, in the Market Square.
Chairman of the town’s hard-working Chamber of Trade, which staged the event, John Knight, said: “I think we can safely say the Christmas Fayre was a great success in every way.
“I’m sure all the traders and shopkeepers who benefited from the huge numbers of people coming in to support the fayre and to see how great Winslow is would like to join me in thanking all those, the usual ‘suspects’ and lots of welcome new faces, who gave their time to make it happen.
“Thanks also to Cala homes for sponsoring the reindeer and to Llew and the rest of the town council for their support, both moral and physical.”
