Fireworks set to light up the skies

Fireworks are set to light up the skies this weekend and next weekend as local groups host their annual displays.

The Lions Club of Winslow boasts that its bonfire and firework display has become one of the most impressive in the county, with attendance growing every year.

This year’s event takes place on Saturday, from 6 pm behind Winslow Public Hall, Elmfields Gate, with the bonfire lighting at 6.40pm.

As well as the main display at 7pm, there will also be a smaller display of fireworks with fewer loud bangs for people with young children, just before the main event.

Adults £ 5, children aged five to 15 £ 2, under-fives free.

Buckingham Town Council is also holding its annual free firework display on Saturday at Bourton Park. Fireworks start at 7pm, followed by a bonfire.

A collection will be made for the mayor’s charities and there will be a demonstration by the Sealed Knot.

Parking is limited, so please park at Cornwall’s Meadow and follow the signed route via the Heartlands.

Also on Saturday, Thornborough is holding its traditional torchlit procession, starting at 6.30 pm from the Two Brewers, on the High Street, proceeding up the Nash Road to the bonfire and firework display venue on the edge of the village, at the Thornborough village sign on the Nash Road.

Gate opens at 7pm, tickets on sale at the Two Brewers from 6pm. The fire will be lit at 7.15pm and the aerial firework display is from 7.30 to 8pm.

There is plenty of parking along the High Street and Village Green. No parking along the Nash Road by the venue, or at the venue.

Entry £5 adults, £3 senior citizens and children.

The 5th Brackley Scouts are holding their firework display on Saturday on the Magdalen College School St John’s site.

Gates open 6pm, display starts at about 7.30pm.

The night sky above Towcester will be lit up on Friday, November 8, during the annual bonfire and fireworks spectacular staged by Nicholas Hawksmoor Primary School, which attracts hundreds of spectators every year.

This year’s event will feature an amazing fireworks display, giant bonfire, novelty items and refreshment stalls, including a barbecue.

Tickets are available from the school office from Monday November 4. Gates open at 6pm and advance ticket prices are £4 adult, £3 children, under-threes free.

All tickets £4 on the night.

The renowned Greatworth Fireworks are back with a bang on Saturday, November 9, on Hobwell Field, behind Greatworth Church.

Gates open at 5.30pm, the bonfire will be lit at 5.45pm and the fireworks start at 7pm.

There will be a barbecue, mulled wine, glow-sticks, etc at this family event.

Family ticket £15, adults £6, children and OAPs £3, pre-school children free.
