DANCERS and their local celebrity partners raised £13,500 for good causes at the first Strictly Bicester competition.

Organised by the Step by Step Dance School, the competition was held at Bicester Community College last Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday night winners were sports centre worker Dean Gidney, one of the 18 local celebrities, and Step by Step dancer Laurren Davie. The Sunday night competition was won by risk consultant Duncan Hale and dancer Julie Long.

The Step by Step team – Sue Douglas, Brian Douglas, Paul Reniers and Linda Stanley – said they were impressed by contestants’ commitment and the standard of their dancing.

The event was opened by Deputy Mayor Dan Sames on Saturday and Mayoress Rose Stratford on Sunday.
