Five-goal spree fires Potterspury to the top

POTTERSPURY are the new Premier Division leaders after a 5-1 home success over Yardley Gobion.Willetts grabbed a brace for the hosts, with Kelly, Broguhall and Shepherd their other scorers.

Second-placed Southcott Village RA won 3-0 in the Premier Division Knockout Trophy first round, Deaking notching a double.

Defending champions Brackley Sports continued their climb up the Premier table to third spot with a 7-0 home demolition of Silverstone. Prescott grabbed a treble, with Carpenter (2), Beckett and Pratt chipping in with goals.

Anchor side Buckingham Town Reserves lost 5-1 at Stewkley, Booden hitting a hat-trick for the hosts, Hall and Dorrity also scoring.

In the Intermediate Division, Great Horwood maintained a two-point lead at the top of the table with a 3-0 home win over Brackley Sports Reserves. Dixon (2) and Cronin were Horwood’s scorers.

Wicken Sports lost a high-scoring game 7-4 at JM United, while Steeple Claydon fell 3-1 at fourth-placed Bow Brickhill. Mid-table Syresham pulled off a fine 3-2 win at Celtic MK, coming back from 2-0 down at half time to take the honours.

In Division One, new leaders Stoke Hammond Wanderers Reserves won 4-1 at strugglers Twyford United, while second-placed Grendon Rangers Reserves slipped to a 5-3 defeat at Southcott Village RA Reserves. In Division Two, Real Padbury won 3-1 at Yardley Gobion Reserves, Ball the Yardley scorer. Great Horwood Reserves crashed 7-0 at Great Linford Reserves. Wicken Sports Reserves trounced Steeple Claydon Reserves 5-2 at home, Collins grabbing a hat-trick, Valentine and Walker the other scorers.

In the Premier Division Knockout Trophy first round, Thornborough Athletic were 1-1 after extra time with MK Titans, but went down 5-4 on penalties.In the Division One Trophy, Marsh Gibbon drubbed Bow Brickhill Reserves 5-1, Callow hitting a brace for Marsh, with Render, Turner and Harnet also on target. Westbury edged Bletchley Bridge 2-1, O’Connell firing home a penalty and Denton the other scorer.

Bugbrooke St Michaels Reserves hammered Charlton 5-0 in the Northants Area Cup second round. Deanshanger Athletic Reserves enjoyed a 4-0 home success over Northampton ON Chenecks. Syresham Reserves crashed 6-1 at home to Potterspury Reserves, Archer hitting Syresham’s goal. Bird hit a four-timer for Potterspury.

>>The Interdivisional Trophy first round game at Wolverton Town against Buckingham University was abandoned after 87 minutes due to an incident. Buckingham led 5-3 at the time.
