A former town councillor charged with the sexual assault of a 15-year-old girl has pleaded not guilty at court.

Stuart Dancer, 66, of Ellesmere Close in Brackley, was a Brackley Town councillor from May 2003 until May 2007.

He made the plea at Northampton Crown Court yesterday morning and his trial date has been set for May 5.

Mr Dancer is charged with one count of sexual assault on a female and the crown court confirmed she was 15 years old at the time of the alleged offence.

In 2011, Mr Dancer appeared in this newspaper when he submitted plans to build a service station, hotel and restaurant on a four-and-a-half acre plot he owned with his brother-in-law.

But it was refused because developing the ‘out of town’ site on the A43 between Buckingham Road and the Tesco roundabout would be ‘detrimental to the character of surrounding countryside’.
