STAFF at an opticians in Buckingham celebrated this week with the official launch of a new-look branch.

Two years ago Dollond and Aitchison merged with the Boots Opticians. D&A branches around the country have already been rebranded a recently it was the turn of the Buckingham branch.

Manager Carl Bowen said Buckingham was catching up with towns like Northampton and Milton Keynes and added: “Basically we had a soft launch on Monday 18 and then an official opening on Wednesday. We didn’t do anything too over the top but we did invite our colleagues and the practice manager from the Boots chemist around the corner.

Mr Bowen said the change was almost completely visual and that all the D&A staff where bought across to work for Boots.

He added: “It’s the same team and same service but obviously with the Boots branding behind it.

The new look has also bought forward a more personalised way of helping customers to choose new spectaculars.

After leaving the test room customers will be offered five different styles of glasses. After trying each one on they are invited to give feedback on what they liked or disliked, then the assistant offers them a pair based on that feedback.

Mr Bowen said there was also now a clearer pricing strategy providing customer with a much better value for money.

he Bowen added: “We’ve had a lot of customers coming in to have a look around and asking for quotes, so foot fall is already good.”
