The library in Buckingham has welcomed a donation of books with links to local history.

The Friends of Buckingham Library were delighted to receive a generous donation of Flora Thompson books from one of their founder members, Tony Webster.

Tony is well known as an authority on the author of Larkrise To Candleford and Flora’s books on rural life, and he was instrumental in a display and archive at the Buckingham Old Gaol Museum.

He also worked to build awareness with the BBC during the filming of the series Larkrise to Candleford, based on locations in Buckinghamshire including the village of Fringford.

Warren Whyte, chairman of the friends, said: “We are very thankful for the generosity of one of our founder members to make this thoughtful gift to the library.

“We would be happy to hear from any local authors who might like to donate some of their work to the library.”
